There are just 48 hours until the first Farming Social Hub live event. Taking place at Matthew and Caroline’s Tipi in the Paddock, the live event on Thursday 9 September, is a chance for the local farming community to discuss the future of farming with the very people who are creating the policies.

Joining a group of Norfolk farmers and the wider agricultural community will be Neville Cavendish, who is DEFRA‘s Head of Co Design. There will also be a rep from the Rural Payments Agency to offer their advice to farmers. The evening will begin with short presentations by DEFRA and the RPA. This is followed by small group discussions and then a panel debate on the future of farming. The panel comprises local NFU chairman and farmer Ed Lankfer and ADM Director David Sheppard, plus the two speakers. Questions will be taken from the audience.

The evening is sponsored by FarmWatch Ltd, who will be giving a presentation on how farm security can be tightened up.

Refreshments include Matthew Owsley-Brown Posh burgers washed down with  beer from local brewery, Duration Brewing.

Highlights of the evening’s discussions will be shared via the Farming Social Hub podcast and radio show, airing on KL1 Radio on Sunday 12 September.

Co-host of the Farming Social Hub radio show, Sarah Juggins, said: ‘This evening is an opportunity for both the local farming community to pose the really important questions about the new ELMS and SFI policies that they want answered to Defra, but also for Defra to discover just what grass roots farmers think of these initiatives. And, after nearly two years of not seeing many people, this is a chance to socialise, chat and share info with people who are facing similar issues.’
