The Farming Social Hub - a voice for the farming community

Chance to be there for the Duration

Farming Social Hub regular radio guest Duration Brewing has taken a step into the unknown with the launch of a Crowdcube campaign for expansion.

C0-founders Miranda Hudson and Derek Bates opened the Brewery three years ago, setting up a contemporary brewery in a 16th century stone barn in rural Norfolk. Since the opening, the Brewery has become renowned as a destination brewery, with a tap-room and outside social area. It also has a healthy online trade, selling the iconic beers across the UK and further afield.

In light of successful sales of beer and brewery-managed retail, the couple are looking to expand the business to include a stunning new tap room that will have a view of the brewhouse on one side and the ruins of a 10th century priory on the other. The plan is to build a taproom and visitor centre transforming the crumbling south end gable of the barn to include a commercial kitchen, two floors and a huge glass window bringing in natural light and Norfolk’s stunning countryside.

Planning permission is granted, so now the couple have launched the crowdfunding campaign to raise a minimum of £350,000. This would fund the tap room, improve the water treatment plant and continue the cellar expansion that would allow Duration to reach an annual capacity of 5,000HL by 2025. Any additional funds over the amount will be used for further, exciting expansion ideas.

‘When we started Duratio, we wanted to build something truly unique and enchanting, says Miranda Hudson, ‘That meant a world-class brewery with a true connection to its landscape; a place to come and enjoy a farm-to-glass beer as part of your own Norfolk adventure. The tap room took off brilliantly and people flock from all over the UK and beyond to visit us. The Crowdcube campaign will help us realise the final piece of our dream, inviting air a community of people who believe in our project.’

Duration is offering up to 15.21% of the company and seeks investors of all sizes. Shares cost £50 and there are other rewards including lifetime discounts and invites to special events.
